Andy’s Christmas List
Not really
in any order, and certainly not all-encompassing.
- TIME. This is not a joke at all! Time is definitely the thing I am
lacking the most right now.
- PIC
setup. This is HUGE, because I am
very jealous of Eric’s setup, and it will take me 20.25 hours to get mine
working (because it took Eric 20 to get his debugged). I have most of the stuff, but nothing
setup. Actually, this could apply
to my entire electronics ‘lab’ if a certain somebody was feeling
exceptionally generous =).
- Shed. I know Dad was already talking about
this, but really this surpasses just about everything else in the ‘cool’
factor. Speaking of which… I can
whip up some snazzy blueprints if wanted =).
- Shop/garage
moving. I really need to move out
of the shop. I have come to the
conclusion that I will be selling off a lot of stuff, but I keep putting
that off in lieu of time, so I now have an approaching-Poppop’s-standards list of things to sell and
move/rearrange/organize etc. Really,
most of these are things I need to do, BUT, if you were willing to be ‘on
call’, as open-ended as that is, it would be definitely appreciated.
- Nice
Blender. HAS to be able to
crush ice. Based on what I was
seeing on the Amazon reviews, I think the one linked to is the one to
get. Actually, in reviewing the
list, this is the only item that I would specifically like the exact one
in the link.
- Cool kitchen
knife set … something that I can hang onto for a few years. With or without a block, because I think
w/o a block, this
is cool. Note: I am not the only one
with this request, because the one in the link, and most on Amazon, are
out of stock.
- Washer
& Dryer. Ha! Bet that’s not something that’s been on
my list before ;-). I was going to
get one over the Christmas break, but I thought this would be a good item
to put on the list. I would
actually prefer to not get a new
one, because I think the used ones have much more ‘bang for the buck’. I’m not particular in the least…
something free to $126.19 on Craigslist is what
I was going to look for by myself.
- Dally-proof
fence. I am not particular
about brand or anything… I would just get the cheapest you can find. They all seem to have mediocre reviews—I
think the most important thing is that it works long enough for Dally to
get the concept. (probably
10minutes? ;-). Do not get a radio
transmitting kind, because it only fits a circular area (eg, the type where you route a wire underground, as in
the link, would be preferred).
- Desk. Heavy, awkward, and/or unique. My main criteria is
that it is big and solid.
Aesthetics are purely optional as long as it is big and solid. Something like Mom’s desk would be great. I
would go on Craigslist. If I were shopping for myself I would be
looking at $50-100 unless it was REALLY cool or had a special function,
etc. The ones in the links were just items that quickly caught my eye for
a search of ‘large desk’ in the furniture section of Craigslist. Those are not necessarily items I would
personally buy because I think they are a bit spendy.
(although a granite one would be pretty
cool). I have actually called on a
few in the past, but the problem is TIME… it takes times & lots of
energy to round up a truck, drive over to a persons house, go through the
typical craigslist banter/bargaining, & then
load/unload the large, awkward desk.
